Macbook battery replacement (Sep 07)

I have a macbook base model from september 07 and the battery has stopped working a few weeks ago. (Condition: Replace now) I've been searching for a replacement outside Apple directly but I've been skeptical of the ones on ebay.

Is there any place cheaper than direct from Apple @ 129 or should I just bite the bullet?

Looks like they range from $80-100 for 07 macbooks, depending on color and new/A stock/B stock.

ifixit (ryken's link) or Apple are your best options. I never had good luck with eBay batteries.

All Li-Ion batteries deplete over time. Not limited to Apple hardware.

My computer was way way out of apple care warranty, but the battery was on "recall" list. Meaning whatever Apple term is applied for a defective part.

They replaced it free of charge after 3 years. Just my experience, may be worth making an appointment.
