For some reason, I can't get any .mkv files to play. I know I've been able to do this before, but I'm stuck. I don't want to have to install a codec pack like CCCP...isn't there just one codec I can download? I thought the Haali Media Splitter (or here)was the one, but nada. Yes, I disabled MPC's internal Matroska parser too. I am able to hear the file's audio.

Any help would be great, thanks!

Edit: When I open the file in MPC, I get this as the error:

I don't think MPC has been updated in quite a while, which might have something to do with it. mkv isn't a codec its a container format so it might not be fixable with a codec pack. Try vlc or give a windows build of mplayer a shot.

I use MPC but i did install CCCP also, but i dont use those codecs.

I use CoreAVC for my mkv files to decode them.

I use MPC + newest FFDShow tryouts and they play perfectly.
