Memory Clock GTX 260

Just purchased a GTX 260. Installed EVGA precision for overclocking and I notice that on stock settings, my memory clock is set to 999. Is this correct when in fact EVGA dictates that it is 1998 effective? Or does 1998 represent under load? If I'm mistaken, can you guys give me a brief explanation on what this means?

If I am not mistaken it is because it is DDR memory which "effectively" doubles the data rate. 999x2=1998

DDR is double, so 999 X 2 effective speed under load.

Uh because that it is the type of GDDR it is..lol

There GDDR, then GDDR2, GDDR3, and so on. What makes them very is how high of a clock they can pull off.

Among other differences, DDR ran up to 400 Mbps, DDR2 from 400-800 Mbps, and DDR3 from 800-1600Mbps per JEDEC specs.
