Okay, so I'm planning on going with a 2GB (1GBx2) to go along with my MSI Diamond Plus mobo. The mobo itself supports DDR 266/33/400. The 400 would be the best to go with, correct?

Hopefully so because here we go. Now I've been looing at this Corsair XMS becuase it seems like a pretty good price at $140 after MIR. Now the first question would be what's the difference between these two?

First: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145486

Second: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145491

Also, I've been searching the memory forums and what has been recommended to others, especially by eclipse, is the G.skill. I don't know which one of these would be suit me well, if I were to go with the G.skill brand.

Second: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231032

Lastly, which would YOU recommend to me? I plan to overclock it but I want stability first. I'm a total n00b when it comes to overclock but I'd like something I can learn on and improbve.

And if someone can convice me the more expensive G.skill is worth it, I'll go with that. But the sooner I get help the better because the MIR for the Corsair ends TODAY.

FWIW, sorry for amount of posts I've made in the forum.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I'd get the G.Skill HZ, the one with black heatspreaders, DDR500 3-4-4-8. They're what you want.

Really? The DDR500 WILL work on the MSI Diamond Plus, even though it says 266/333/400?

And don't mean to sound pushy, but why would you say G.skill is the way to go? Stablier? More options for overclock?

Any more responses from anyone else would GREATLY help me out, thank you.

Yea, it'll work on the Diamond +. They say DDR266/333/400, but it will support more than just that. Getting PC4000 ram (ddr500) means that your ram will hit 250mhz fsb, guarenteed, for better overclocking.

I like G.Skill because it's cheaper, quality components (the HZ uses Samsung UCCC on a Brainpower PCB), good warrentee.

Yep the black heatsinks, yap yap :p

So is this what I want?

And basically the reason they are more expensive than let's say, the XMS line, is that it overclocks better? Also, is $180 a good price for this RAM? Do you think I should wait a little while and the price might go down, or jump on it now because it might go up?

Lastly, I vaguley recall some information that if a RAM has a lower timing, it accesses information faster, but you don't want something too low because it might become choppy? Is it something like that? Then again, I could be completely wrong, lol.

Thanks again.
