Microsoft Habu - $30 - Monoprice

Razer makes these, but from what I know there's a connection with the USB soldering in the mouse itself...

Mine had problems pretty much a couple months into using it (it would act like you were plugging in and unplugging the USB cable spasstically, but you weren't)

Microsoft was quick to ship me a new one, but I just sold it... and yea Microsoft supports these, not Razer... Microsoft will just send you a new one though and let you keep the old broken one...

I'm in for one. I was about to go for an IE3.0 but couldn't stomach the drop to 400 DPI. This seems like it'll have the best of both worlds at the same price point: IE3.0 ergonomics and the laser sensor from my Copperhead.

So I bought this mouse and it installs and works fine off the CD, but the firmware updater from razersupport.com does not work. I followed their instructions, but when the "Found New Hardware" screen comes up, it never finds the driver for the Freescale USB JW32 ICP Device. Anyone else that hit this deal have this problem?

Wow amazon raised the price on the Habu. They did have it for 28$ for a while. Great price for the mouse.

Figured it out. Some assclown didn't include a driver needed for the firmware update in the 2.12 package. I found a 2.10 package and it had a nice .inf that was absent from the 2.12 that let me update.

This is a good mouse. If my Death Adder died this would be its replacement. Hopefully it doesn't die, though!! Hehe. Great deal, OP.

love this mouse. i should buy a few spares

dont even have to. just tell microsoft yours is broken. twice.

jk i dont condone this behavior. :( but its nice of microsoft to be so kind for once. usually they are the third reich of computerdom.

this is a horrible mouse, its not worth even $30

buy an mx518 or a 3.0 instead

I've had my Habu mouse for 1, maybe 2 years now. I forget exactly. I got it when it near when it first came out on a deal ($40 :D). Very excellent mouse. Logicrap makes mice that just don't feel as natural to me with their movement algorithms. I don't mind logitech for laptop mice, but for a real mouse, I find their movement sub-par. Razer makes great mice for the mouse function, but crap for the ergonomics. MS makes wonderfully ergonomic mice, but historically they weren't anything to laud for their mechanics. Habu is a very nice merger of the two.

I had the first intellimouse explorer when it was new, and loved it. It lasted for years before it broke, and MS just sent me a new one free of charge, and let me keep the old one (which I had fun taking apart :). That one eventually wore down, but I wanted something a little more gaming oriented, and got the Habu. I've had that for a couple years, and it is still working well.

Too bad, Razer makes top notch products. They are the only company that are somewhat keeping Logitech on their heels.

Gog@amer has a deal on the razer diamondback 3g for 29.90 which I bought. So if you still need a mouse you can check that out.

Is this dead? I cannot seem to find the Habu. The link takes you to the homepage.

Is there a reason for this, or are you just going to shit all over my thread with no facts or even opinions to back your statement up?
Haha, from the way I read that post...that's was efin hilarious :D There would be a decent chance of me getting this mouse to join my collection of mice if I were still gaming competitively...and if this deal was still alive lol. I've used everything from intelli 1.1 to 3.0 to 510's,18's, the G5's and 7's the crappy creative fatal1ty mouse, couple of the razor mice like the copper head and another one...long story short, I prefer the good old Intelli 1.1 cus it's cheap, easy to find, was easy to take to lan's and tourneys, reliable, tracks amazingly better then any other mouse i've used, and if 400dpi which allowed me to have low sensitivity during game play increasing accuracy. Just my 2 cents. Ofcourse this was back when I played close to 15 hours a day of cs 1.6 lol, now i'm more of a single player type a guy, couple hours a day if that. Dead Space has me hooked tho!

Hey, look at that. I can pull reviews out of my ass too:

All recommended, even with the issues you mentioned.

It's not the best mouse in the world, but for $30, it's a good deal.

Once again, I'll ask you to stop shitting all over my thread.

there is a difference between a review and the full-blown experiment conducted by sujoy on esreality, proving the habu to be a cruddy mouse. I dont see why anyone would pay $30 for a mouse that is inferior to ones the same price (3.0 and 518)

/wipes ass

Earth to SoAndSo:

Not everyone in the world is a low sens player. In fact I'd wager that they're a minority.

Love my Habu. :)

QFT

There are a lot of high sensitivity gamers and "they're" the majority of gamers. The ironic thing is although they're is a majority of them, sooner or later they will switch to low sensitivity if they start taking the game seriously (extremely competitive). This is because you can become more precise with lower sensitivity while increasing your reaction time is simply of practice. :p

LMAO @ pulling reviews out your ass. When it comes to topics like picking a mouse, you need a quality mouse that performs well for your needs. Which one you get after that is simply preference.

damn if i had gotten this earlier would have been an instant purchase. habu hands down was one of the most awesome mouses i have evere owned.
