Anyone know what the minimum PSU is that can run a XFX 6600GT? I think it is something like 430W but I'm not sure. Thanks.

350Watt is the minimum. Some 300s can handle them but it's rare.
a 300watt can easily handle it if dont have a bunch of drives.

True as the minimum the box should say is 300watts. As long as you have a basic setup OP (original poster) you should be fine with a 300watt or greater.

im currently running an AMD3200+, 5 hard drives, floppy, cd rom, Exos water system, and a 6800NU on a 450w PSU. currently at idle im using 85w. people are a bit over worried about theri PSU if you ask me. at full load the most i use is 150w(thats at boot when the drives are spinning up.)

Yes, the community knowledge when it comes to power supplies is shockingly retarded. I had no problem with 2 7200RPM drives, an athlon 64 3800+ and and geforce 6800GT in a sff pc with a 180watt PS. You don't need 500watt power supplies people, unless you're running SLI with a dual core prescott.

even then i doubt you need that much power, but you do need proper voltage and constant power. if your buying a cheap PSU from a mostly unknown brand then your 500w PSU is more comparable to a nice name brand, quality PSU in the 300-350w range.
