Well the ole lady is kinda hinting that I should get off the xbox so she can watch tv.I figure the best way is to get a new monitor since I only have a 17inch anyway.I was thinking something along the lines of 22-24 inch with a hdmi port since I do have a hdmi xbox 360.

I plan on ordering off of new egg on the 17th or to get one from Best buy if they have a sale.
Will it make a big difference if I go with a 1680x1050 or the 1920x1080?

I was looking at the 23inch asus that is 1920x1080,it is under $200 which is nice,Cheaper the better I guess.

I dont know if the text will look different between the two or if the picture will be alot different between the 2 sizes. Please chime in guys

if you get 1680x1050 then on your xbox there will be black bars above and below the screen because it is a 16:10 monitor. If you get one that is 1920x1080 it will fill the entire screen, plus be slightly better resolution on your computer screen, if you don't mind using a computer screen that is 16:9. Personally I kind of like 16:9 for computers but others would say computer stuff is better at 16:10. However, if you are currently using a 17 inch monitor I'd say go get one thats 1920x1080 because you obviously aren't too picky if your still handling a square screen these days :)

Also, consider this Viewsonic VX2433WM 23.6" 1080P display at your local Costco. There maybe a coupon on sale for this LCD. Also, you have the option of returning/exchanging this LCD is yours is bad or suffer from bad backlight bleeding or stuck/dead pixels.

I wouldn't even consider the 1680x1050. If the monitor will only be used solely for the 360 then definitely go for the 1920x1080. But if you plan on using it as a computer monitor also, I would get 1920x1200. Fortunately, there have been a ton of deals on 23" 1080p monitors for under $200. And from the reviews on Newegg, you can't go wrong with any of them.

Check this deal out. Samsung 2333SW 23" Widescreen 1920x1080 5ms LCD Monitor w/ DVI $153

I picked up a dell s2409w from Best Buy this past weekend. They had it listed for 279.99, but they matched dell.com's price of 219.00 YMMV. So far i'm very pleased with it. 1920x1080, hdmi, dvi, and agp inputs, 5ms response time.

I dont do any pc gaming just web browsing.I just dont want to play my 360 on a little 17inch widescreen lcd monitor when I can get a 23 or 24 inch for under $200

I will be watching movies on it also so the bigger the better I guess.I am gonna go with a 1920x1080 monitor since it seems like the best choice.

Its gonna be nice going from 720p to 1080p

For an Xbox360 you should definitely go with a 1080P monitor. A lot of good suggestions on this thread. I'm thinking of getting the Dell S2409W myself. I'm only hesitating because of reported HDMI sound issues.

Just curious as i've got mine hooked up to that monitor via vga cable. But what sound issues would there be? The monitor doesnt have speakers...
