I heard on a podcast that Haswell CPU's have the ability to use the motherboard's HDMI or DisplayPort as a low power display option (for the desktop or internet browsing), then switch to the primary video card for high-demand applications. This would be accomplished by having the GPU render, then output the display through the motherboard's display ports.

I don't know if this is factual or just speculation. I haven't been able to find any information on whether or not this exists, or how this would be set up in the BIOS if it does.

Has anyone ever heard of this? I think it'd be a brilliant idea.
