MSI GTX 680 Lightning!

Nobody tell MSI, but I'm willing to pay $50 more for it than that. Call me emotional. =D

Not sure about a European release date, but your X760 will be much more than sufficient to handle a single 680 lightning... In fact... You could push 3 of them with that PSU.
I don't think so, he can draw around 600w so he could easily have two but three would pull around 700w which is over 80% usage.

If it was me... I would personally use an 850w-950W psu for 3-way sli 680s, but I stand by what I said. The X-760 is an extremely high quality PSU and the 680s have a power draw of around 173 watts. The Lightning may have a higher power draw out of the box then a reference 680, but I doubt it will be by much.

The X-760 is rated at 756w on the 12v rail alone.

Here's a couple 3-way sli 680 power consumption reviews. They show three 680s in sli drawing about 510 watts. The entire system consumption under full load is 650 to 750 watts.

I was under the assumption that you don't want to use more than 80% of the power your PSU is rated for sorry for the bad info.

is there going to be 4gb version and will they make a full waterblock to suit?

From the Msi Facebook page

Just wish we could get an official release. I tried hassling Msi a little bit for more info but no such luck :( Guru3d is thinking they will have a review up on the 20th

Ok so a big site guru3d will probably make a review on the 20th for this card. If anyone know (i just want to know some speculation of release date to the Europe stores, not US) after a big site did a review on gtx580 lightning, how many days passed until that card was available to buy worldwide ? Sorry if i am so noob, or asking the same question, but i am very anxious to buy this card, cuz i am playing on hd 4000 igp right now for about 1 moth and 2 weeks. I followed the gtx680 DirectCU II, the card seems to be released, but not in any europe stores, it's kinda hard to find. And i've heard about the msi lightning and now i am waiting to buy this card, cuz has better pcb. I had a gtx680 twin frozr III, but that card has reference pcb with 4 phases, and the card was making noises under load, whine, coil whine, whiz.

Starting to show up on some random German sites

Base core clock is showing up as 1056 Mhz. I was kind of hoping for a higher base clock. I guess all that matters is that you can overclock the piss out of it and say screw that silly ole base clock :)

Hmm, then is nice, i guess not so much time until the video card is available. And the price, is ok'ish, no more big that that...

How does one SLi these together with the fan shroud getting in the way? Do I have to remove it(not an issue just wanna be sure)?

Should be fine with a ribbon type sli connector. The hard pcb style prob wont work.

I see they do provide a ribbon connector but it appears to be a single link which I understand wont work in triple sli?

You just alternate connectors. Left left then right right then left left. Kinda like this:

Terrible I know but hopefully you get the idea. Just search on good images or something ha.

well I am buying one based purely on the temps. Shirley we will be able to keep under the 70c max boost limit without being incredibly loud?

if dealers can sell this for $549 MSRP like Alex says in the video....then I might just pick one up myself...IMO that is a STEAL for all the features you get...a vanilla 680 is $500-$510...so about $40 extra you get an incredible feature set on the lightning

but i have a feeling its gonna be more like $599....which is still damn competitive.....but i might just go with the 670 PE/OC version instead....same twin frozr 4 cooling and $429 at dealers

$599 for a 2gb card is a lot of money and MSi should know that, the most I would pay is 570.

Short answer: yes
As soon as Afterburner is finished for the 680 Lightning, you'll be able to play more with the voltages.

I am not sure if it is included in Today's 2.2.2 release of Afterburner:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download...6cbf3bb153925b

But that one should at least support 670 overvoltage for our Power Edition (1.3v, up from 1.175v) so expect something like that (at least) for the 680 Lightning.

Looks nice. Good luck to everyone trying to find one and those of you that do, enjoy it!

I'm a bit dissaspointed though for a flagship product like this not to have 4GB of memory though when it seems like such an easy addition. I know it would raise cost some but when you're looking to own the definitive version, you're not concerned about a bit more cost.

Sure would be nice to see what programs some of these sites are using to claim stable clock speeds. From my own testing, Heaven is the definitive stability test at the moment for these cards and I don't ever seen it mentioned when claiming a card reached a certain stable clock speed. Would be disapointing for anyone to buy one of these and get it home to realize it won't run Heaven at 1300MHz out of the box, even if you do factor in every card overclocks differently. I guess I would just prefer a more consistent method of stability checking across the board for all websites, other than "we achieved a stable clock speed of xxxx".

It may have been mentioned before, but the VRAM model follows their previous releases.

MSI GTX580 Lightning - This only came with the standard 1.5GBs of VRAM
MSI GTX580 Lightning Extreme - This came with the upgraded 3GBs of VRAM

Here's hoping they release a GTX680 Lightning Extreme with 4GBs of VRAM. This would be considered their flagship.

That TPU review says it now supports all 4 displays... what does that mean? Does that mean it's no longer the 3+1 surround the other 680s have?

Its an older GPU-Z

On another note. Newegg is killing my mood with all these damn Evga cards it stock and no Lightnings. They almost have more sku's than all other 680s at Newegg. Kind of ridiculous.

I run one monitor. Right now it's a Dell U2312HM at 1080P. Even if I go 27" Widescreen (most likely non 3D), which is the biggest I see myself going, I don't think I need the 4GB of VRAM. Between the 680ness and the overclock, this will get me to the next Nvidia Flagship Lightning release.

You might not "need" it but it doesn't hurt when you get a flagship card, and I think it would look pretty awesome with black and red :D

Plus pushing over 4 million pixels with any AA eats VRAM fast.

Red Lightning! Sure I wish it had more ram, but not enough to wait any more or pick a non lightning card. Had the 580 Lightning Extreme and it was awesome.
