Multiplatform releases - console or PC?

Was just curious as to how folks here judge which platform to purchase for when a game is released. I was thinking about picking up Simpsons Hit & Run, but was unsure as to go with Gamecube version or PC version. Noticable control differences?

My general guide is buy which ever version came out first on a particular platform. It usually plays better because it was designed for that system. There are exceptions. KOTOR had extras and didn't suffer as much from the console conversion. Splinter Cell also played better on the PC rather than the X-Box. But otherwise, I can't see playing Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy on a computer. Wouldn't be right.
