i'm putting together a box just for my music and i'm thinking about using itunes but i'm wondering if there are any good htpc frontends that i could just disable the pvr functions and/or not use them. any suggestions? (btw i thought the htpc forum was the most logical place for this post, move it elsewhere if necessary :) )

I have never used Itunes, but if it is being used a music box i highly recommend the PCDJ software from Visiosonic http://www.pcdj.com/

I have the red version and love it, we had a DJ work for us for about 8 months and he did everything from this, allows you to put in all the information (even BPM) and then search by anything, basically a digital soundboard attached to a searchable database of music.

You can config Xlobby to launch iTunes when you want too, typically I don't like to use the built in movie and music modules of a frontend since they are always made to be "generic" and some feel like an afterthought.

I like myHtpc and you can customize the button layout to however you want. I have read some really good tutorials on organizing your music for it and you can use winamp as your player. I wish the layout was a little more user friendly in terms of playlist and what not. Check out http://www.htpcnews.com/forums/index.php
