Well I've got 7 computers scattered around the house that all have 5.1 surround and I thought it would be cool if they were all playing the same songs at times.

Well the first thought was that this would require way to many wires and switches. T

hen the thought of broadcasting it over the network popped in my head (after of course we amusingly took a shot at 7 people hitting the play button on winamp at the same time).

I found a plugin for winamp, but I've had some issues getting to work. Can't seem to figure it out.

So if anyone has any experience with any software like that'd be fantastic.

I've done this at my dorm room. I set up a server that houses all of my MP3/OGG files and just streams them with ShoutCast. My shoutcast server is password / IP restrictive, so only the folks that I want to access it can.

I've used this with my laptop to listen to my music from across campus in networked classrooms and labs.

You can basically do the same thing in your house.
