What are some must have programs after you get done reformatting? for me its.

Foobar
VLC Media Player
AIM
AVG free

You forgot THE most important programme of them all....

WINAMP!!!!

Other than that, for all those people that don't want to fork out for a version of Microsoft Office there is OpenOffice.org that is virtually a microsoft office clone and also completely free.

Then you also have Adaware and Spybot.

Maxthon
Winamp
Zone Alarm
Winzip
Spybot
Spyware Blaster
An AntiVirus
MS OneNote 2003
Media Player Classic
Divx
ObjectDock
Yahoo Widget Engine (formerly konfabulator)
AIM
Printer Software
ATI Drivers
Gmail Notifier
Acrobat Reader

And that's just to start...

For me it's:
Adaware
Spybot
Nod32
Open Office
Nero
Photoshop
Smart FTP
XSI(3d Program)
Trillian
Soundcard, Video card, and Printer drivers
Firefox
Thunderbird
Divx
Quicktime
Emule

Thats it, nothing else needed I believe.

media player classic
k-lite codec pack basic
winrar the free one
firefox
avg free
ccleaner
noscript

oldmx

I install in the order I need to activate them

All Drivers except ethernet
Zone Alarm
Various quick-fixes from grc.com
Ewido Security Suite
Ethernet Driver
Trillian
Firefox (then download adblock)
FTP/HTTP servers
K-lite Codec pack
Media Player Classic (FTW!!!)
E-mule

That's just what it takes to get me back to square one. Once that is all set up and running I'll burn through the better part of a day installing cd burning software, games, random utilities from all corners of the planet..... If I listed everything it'd take too long.

Yeah, now that we are on the topic of reformats, how do I reverse an accidental reformat?

This is the only way to reverse a reformat as far as I know.

AVG (free)
Avast (free)
Spybot S&D
CCleaner
WINAMP
Winzip
Winwar (free)
F@H
Divx
DivX player

Soundcard, Video card, and Printer drivers
AIM (used for concert ticket pre-sales)
Acrobat Reader

:)

When we're talking windows:

Notepad2 (surprised no one mentioned this yet!)
FireFox + Mouse Gestures + AdBlock
Thunderbird
Nod32
FooBar 2000
WinSCP (best SFTP or SCP Client, I just wish they'd add regular FTP support.)
MSN Messenger (As hideous as the interface can be at times I just really prefer having webcam support to talk to my parents back home).

Now that I'm in Linux I'm still trying to find my favourites...

*edit: forgot to add 7-zip to that list. It does everything winRAR does and supports 7z archives which are far smaller than rars or zips.
