My 2405 just bought the farm

Yes, after nearly 2 years of stellar performance, my beloved Dell 2405 flared out, last night. It's covered by a 3 year warranty. Will Dell replace it with another 2405 or will it be a 2407? Anyone out there have experience with this situation?

I would try to get it replaced with a 2407WFP. (or whatever their new 24" is called)
Cause you didn't really smack it with a hammer, did you?
 
I would try to get an 2405 again as I found the picture quality of the 2407 not on pair with the older 2405,It looked like the screen surface had a texture on it.
 
Would you have any idea how many hours you had on it after two years? I've had my 2405 for almost a year now and it had around 5000 hrs on it (you can find out the hrs in the hidden service menu on it)
 
Mine is already boxed up so I can't try that hidden menu. I read through the entire Official 2407 thread to see if there were any comparisons between the 2405 and 2407. Couldn't find any, but I ran through the thread pretty fast so maybe I missed something. According to the monitor specs, about the only panel difference is brightness.

2405 = 500 nits
2407 = 450 nits

I don't know if that's really noticeable. I'm not a rabidly fanatical gamer or CGI artist, so my eye isn't as critical as others. Overall, I was very pleased with my 2405. I was drawn to the 2407's style and figured it probably was an upgrade, technologically speaking, from the 2405.

EDIT: I just got an e-mail from Dell. I need to call customer service to request the 2407, but it looks like they'll give it to me instead of another 2405.
 
UPDATE:

Today, I received a new (not refurbished) 2407 v.A03 to replace my dead 2405. :D It took some haggling, including a return of the refurb 2405 Dell sent first, but it's all good, now. I'll post pics after I clean up my desk.
 
2407wfp A03 .. no 1:1 scaling on dvi/vga (no longer with A04 rev.). but has HDCP on the dvi, ps3 supported. 2450fpw cannot do 1:1 on 1080p on dvi but can on other res. 2405fpw vga input can do 1:1 in all supported resolutions.

this "hidden service menu", is it dell only? i have a samsung 204b.

I have no idea what any of that means. :p

The picture looks great, no dead pixels, games look good and smooth, no noticeable ghosting = me happy :D
 
How do you access the hidden feature on theold 2405? I would like to try that with my 2407.

Congrats on the monitor. By most accounts it's a great monitor. Rev.03 also looks good with PS3 and Xbox360 :D
 
wow now i wish my 2405 would die so i can get it replaced with the 2407.. i love the size of it but i HATE the ghosting.. just hate it.. its horrible
