My 3007-HC is on order

Shemp, Thanks for your comment re: the Spyder2 express.

As far as your non-HC I wouldn't sweat it since even though there could be a 20% technical difference, it's most likely hard for an individual to perceive. Furthermore since all our eyes see colors differently, I doubt one persons perception is more valid then your own. I forget the numbers but a sizable percentage of males are partially colorblind by 35 anyway.... Both the HC and non-HC are best in class monitors.

Mine is scheduled for delivery on Wednesday, the waiting is killing me :p

Who cares...HDCP is years away from even potentially mattering.

1. I care, jerk, or I wouldnt be asking

2. HDCP matters right the hell now because BOTH major HD content players (WinDVD and PowerDVD) REQUIRE that you have HDCP compatibility all the way through.

3. I'm gonna let you off easy because you dont even have your 30" yet and have yet to learn what it's like to try and watch an HDDVD on it.

You can tell the difference. We have both sitting next to eachother at work.
Are they both being run on similar hardware? Monitor and sound reviews can be very subjective. You are all making me feel very bad about not waiting for this new and improved 30" However I am very happy with the old one :)

Well ok then. As far as I knew, it HDCP didn't matter at all because the ICT bit is disabled on all media, but I haven't heard a straight answer on the issue. I do have my own 30", but no HD-drive since they're insanely expensive and offer little benefit to me.

That's strange and unfortunate that those players check for HDCP compatibility. That definitely won't help the adoption rate of the new format.

Yes. But you can really only tell the difference if they are sitting next to each other or in certain applications. If you have a regular 3007 now, you probably wouldn't notice the difference if you upgraded to an HC and you didn't keep them side by side.

Yes it sucks (I have a X1900XTX right now and can't watch my legitimately purchased King Kong HDDVD on my computer because of it).

Also I got the Xbox 360 HDDVD add-on for $99 CAD (down from $199). It's the best deal out there right now.

Ya know, maybe someone cracked WinDVD to not check for HDCP compliance. It's a complex issue, but it seems to me that that might be easier than cracking HDCP itself. HDCP is done through hardware handshaking, while WinDVD is just software. With the ICT disabled, the hardware handshaking shouldn't be a problem (as far as I know).

If you want this issue fixed for good, you should contact the WinDVD maker and tell them to change the software to make decisions based on the ICT bit. One of the reasons for the ICT in the first place was to not penalize the early adopters of HDTV, where those TVs didn't have HDCP compliance. They wanted HD movies to still play for those people. Well, the same issue applies right now, where HD needs to work for early adopters of video cards.

If they're worried about pirates, that's not a concern since it's easy to buy a Geforce 8600 that fully supports HDCP. There's no reason I can think of for WinDVD to not base its decision on the ICT bit. Otherwise they're screwing over quite a few people, and no one benefits.

I was using a ViewSonic VX2025wm 20.1 inch widescreen... no slouch of a monitor either. But man... this thing is just... so... PRETTY!

Obligatory pictures :p

Nice. Where did you get that background? I like it.

Edit: never mind, I found it.

Do you mind snapping a couple of high resolution pics for the monitor porn crowd here?

Unfortunately no. I work (well, internship actually) at an advertising company and we work on things that are under non disclosure agreements, so we aren't allowed to bring camera's in certain areas due to my manager's policy which is fair due to the fact that he could be screwed up the ass big time if we did break nda.

I just got my HC in at the office, taking it home and leaving my non-HC at the office. I do most of my photo work at home.

I did calibrate the HC at work to similar settings (read rather dim luminance to match print proofs) and both monitors are pretty damn close but there's less dE offset on the HC.

Basically this means it's more accurate... The 3007 is slightly less accurate than my 2405, and the HC model is more accurate than the 2405.

How much? visibly I can't tell, but it may end up being "significant" when i am looking for just that perfect shade of yellow for a design.

So don't sell your non-HC for an HC unless you do calibrated print work basically. Out of the box with no calibration the HC is actually worse/less accurate (more saturated)

Apologies if this has been asked before - I only read about half the thread. This is a bit of a resource question. Would my current setup ([email protected]+ 8800GTS@630/2000) handle upscaling of 1080p material (provided its non-encrypted) to the full 2560x1600 resolution or will I need to live with the 1280x800 alternative? I am coming from a ridiculously small 15'' TFT (they still exist !) and have no means of testing.
Cant wait to get my hands on one of those monsters :D

I was wondering how the black levels would look on the 3007 in a dark room compared to my 2405 (the first week it was out). I would guess that they would not be quite as good because it is an IPS panel. I saw one post in this thread that had some info but has anyone else have any ideas.

I had the same concern about blacks, since I was going from the 2407 to the 3007HC. After calibrating with Eye One Display 2, I can't really see any difference between the two. I really am pleased with the 3007.

Who Did you guys call for the 3007-HC @ dell? Can anyone pm me his info again :D

Thanks for the reply about the black levels Pop. I will most likely pick this one up if it goes on sale in the next month.

I ordered my LCD on Monday afternoon and it arrived Thursday Morning at 8.45am
I just like to say it is HUGGGGGEEE and Beautiful with NO Dead or Stuck Pixels,
NO Backlight bleeding,No Buzzing, and NO stuck on/off power switch, No ghosting,
and it is really BLACK and I have not used any calibrating at all.:D

It's also running great with a MSI 8600GT Overclocked graphics Card running
flatout 2 at Native resolution and other games at 1280x800 and still looks good.
Well, I'm glad I made the right decision in picking Dell. :D

Some of my friends said you cant play games on these cause the response time is so high and all you see is ghosting. Is this true?

Thanks.

no, no, no. games run just fine on my 3007HC monitor.

tell your friends they're full of it. :p

ROFL. Do your "friends" have a Dell 3007WFP?

HL2, FC, STALKER, BF2, WoW, EQ, etc. No ghosting what-so-ever.

Hi Everyone, did any other 3007-HC owners recieve their monitor in a box that identifies the monitor as the older 3007wfp. No where on my monitor, packaging or included documentation is the monitor referred to as the '-HC' and I'm worried they sent me last years model.

Can anyone verify that this is how the 'HC' is shipping?. The only destinguishing identification is Rev A04 on the outside of the box and that it was made in Mexico.

Talking to Dell they seem to have no idea. It also has an item number of XD310 on the packing slip.

Any other 'HC' owners get a package like mine?

My box clearly has 3007WFP-HC listed on it. The model should also be printed on the label on the back of the montitor. You will see: "Model NO" and under that should be 3007WFP-HC.

Also, the part # is: 255-0482

Is the part number you referring is CN-xxxxx-255-0482 at the back of your monitor?
