N router + G range extender?

My v1.1 Linksys WRT300N router and my D-Link DWL-G710 range extender don't seem to play nicely together... Which is unfortunate because the range extender worked just fine with both my SMC 2804WBRP-G (died) and Asanté 3002-AL (802.11b, two-port switch) routers.

Is this a common issue, or should standard 802.11g range extenders work well with "MIMO"/802.11n routers?
