There will always be something faster/better, but this is a great burner at a great (shipped) price.

My opinion, for what its worth, is if you need a burner now or within a month, grab it. The price is right, the performance is great quality.

BTW the advancements/price drops in drives have outstripped the advancements/price drops in media. Basically, yer gonna get faster DL speeds but media hasnt kept up.

Are you really looking for faster DL performance? Hold off.. If you want a quality 4.7GB burner, get this one or the BenQ 1640.

heh, by coincidence i just posted a new thread on that drive, stumbled onto it over at Ben's bargains.

Newegg's ad claims that both the 3540a and 3550a both have 8X DL burning speeds (?) wondering where the upgrade is? unless newegg's description is incorrect again...
