need a 22inch monitor help me

Need to get a 22inch monitor,I know next to nothing about gaming monitors so some help would be nice.I have come to find that 22's are 1650x1050 which is great since I am currently on a 17inch and it is hurting my eyes.
So can you tell me what makes a gaming monitor good and can I get one for $250?
It is probably a long shot but I would prefer new over refurb.

Also what kind of video card would I need to run on that pig?
Do I need to go sli or would a 8800gt or 9600gt be fine on it.Probably only play sports games,COD4 and the like mostly FPS.
Any help will be appreciated

my friend got that at the end of last summer on sale at a local office depot. He likes it a lot. I've been around it a few times. I couldn't discern any differences in quality between it and my LG L196WTQ, which is rated at 1000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response.

also, you might be better off with an 8800GTS (G92) compared to the 9600GT. Preferably 512mb

Don't have the video card yet, but the monitor is awesome. My monitor is actually the older 2232, that new one is supposedly better.
