hi there, a while ago i asked about a case with at least 10 hdd bays... i was recommended to get a lian-li v2000+ so two months ago I ordered it, they said yes its coming yes its coming.. then today NO ITS NOT... i'm out for blood, they had my cash for 2 months now they dont even apologies and treat me rudely like they're too busy to deal with their problems (ive been nothing but courteous).. the only other model they have is the Lian Li Armorsuit X Edition which is another $150 and fits hardly enough stuff, with the extra hdds i plan to get its not going to be nearly enough....

can anyone recommend another case i can search down i cant find this lian-li case anywhre locally.. and importing is TOOO expensive..

its going to need 16 bays total (15 hdd, 1 optical)

8x wd4000ys
4x wd re2 gp 1TB
2x 200gb (vista)
1x 36gb raptor (xp)
1x samsung optical

i have plenty of 5.25 > 3.5 converter brackets so as long as it has 16 bays total.. 5.25 or 3.5 will suffice..

really really pissed off right now *sharpens blade*:mad:

thanks for any help [H] :)

Why don't you get some of those HDD racks that put 4 or 5 HDDs into 3 5.25 bays??

you can theoretically squeeze all those into 10 total bays if you wanted to do this as densely as possible

edit: didn't realize how expensive those can be

im worried about thermals... i can get 3x5.25 > 5x3.5 converter brackets???... lemme look around for those.. that might work with that coolermaster stacker 810.

thanks heaps.. but that thermaltake thing has cursed my googling and supplier website searching!! i have plenty of 1 to 1 converter brackets.. but they dont take into account the sheer number of drives i plan to cram into this baby...

15 x 3.5
1 x 5.25 (i dont mind ditching this into a caddie though its just a rom and i have a few 5.25 caddies)

so 15 or 16 components into 11 bays... need something like this.... but cant find a supplier...

I was looking at something like this but you should look at what Ockie does with his galaxies:

talk about storage density!

He would be the man to ask if that is what you want to do, although it looks like a stacker might be a better option.

LOL.. cheers, i might ask him

this is quickly spiraling out of control.. $100 each ... I NEED 3 OF THEM!!! omg OHNOEZ... i wanted simple metal... you know like $2 worth of steel bent with holes in it ;)

Know whats sad? i totally just worked with one of those a few days ago when building a server. :(

Haha, go with those, they seem to be pretty well thought out and looks like they will fit your HDD bill.

well thanks heaps for the help.. ive got $400 here... so im not sure if i can afford all that.. all these parts are going to be more expensivve locally (australia)... but i'll give it a shot..;)

LOL.. i wrote a message to the company (GeneSys Rack) regarding the cheap 5bay 3.5 from 5.25... they said yes, they can ship them to australia (i only asked if there was a retailer where they were available), they're only USD$4 each... but minimum quantity is 50pcs... LOL $200.. still cheaper than 3 of those more expensive ones ($300 probably $400 in australia)... but what on earth would i do with another 47 of them!!!!!! OMG

anyone interested in buying 47 5.25 > 3.5 converter brackets 3bays to 5bays ????

You could start a business in Australia.

selling converter brackets... believe me.. i'm considering buying the order... all my searches have come up with is a silverstone 4bays from 3bays.. but that is like $40ea and i'm still gonna fall short with 14 of 16 bays if i get the coolermaster stacker if i buy 3 of them..

:)

You can get CALPC 5 in 3 drive cooling units, they are about 40-50 shipped. You need to call them to order them.

Also, I would highly recomend a Stacker 810 or 101, nothing else is going to give you more space for cheaper. You can snatch a refurb stacker up on coolermasters site for $40-50 or so or you can wait for store specials and they are usually in the 80's.

The CalPC units were $25 shipped when I ordered them about one year ago, FWIW.
