I've upgraded my system to the specs below (Main PC) but still have my 8800gt card. I will eventually be playing the next flight sim that's coming out sometime and plus I like playing 1st person shooters. What would be the best bang for the buck card around the 300 dollar range.

Every so often at newegg they'll have a 6970 open box about $300 or so if you want to go that route also..Also some 6950's too...

Flight Sim is CPU bound no? A gtx 460 should suffice for high to max settings at your resolution.

I had to use a GTS 250 while my 480 was in RMA and it handled BC2 on medium settings at 1080p like a champ. Granted I have an i7, I agree with you that OP should invest in a monitor before buying a new card.

1440x900? um its time for a big boy monitor before you go buying a $300 video card.

I totally agree. Buying a nice big 24" monitor will increase your gaming pleasure 10 fold. I'd spend $200 on a new LCD and let your 8800GT ride while you save up enough to land a 6850 or the likes.
