I'm planning on getting one of those cards eventually but I'm not sure if my PSU can handle it. I hear these new cards require an 8pin and 6pin power connector which my current PSU doesn't have. I don' t want to upgrade my PSU but if I must, I must or is there an adapter for converting x-pin to an 8-pin. Thanks for any help and here's my current specs:

Asus P5KPL-VM (PCI-Express 16x only, and currently using onboard Intel video)
Intel C2D Wolfdale E8400
A-Data 2GB DDR2800
Seagate 320GB SATAII x 2
WD500GB SATAII
Seasonic S12 600W

The 8800gt uses the regular 6 pin PCI-E connector. I'm not sure about the 3870, probably the same.

If I'm wrong, someone correct me.

the 3870x2 runs using just one 6-pin plug. but if you want to overclock you need an 8-pin plug as well

your PSU has plenty of power. Most cards include at least one adapter that can use two 4 pin molex connectors.

I am pretty sure you need TWO 6 pins or a 6 pin and 8 pin to allow the card to be O/Ced thought ATI's drivers directly.
