Hi! planing on buying a new system, well more of an upgrade.

The thing is i am currenty sitting on a Hiper 580W modular with the following spec.
+5V /36A
+12V1 /20A
+12V2 /18A
+3.3V /30A

And the system will have the following spec.
Asus Commando
E6600
Corsair TWIN2X2048-8500C5D Dominator
Raptor 74Gb
2x Maxtor 250Gb
Xfx 7800Gt
and an Asetek Lightspeed for that special feeling of Overclockability.

Now i wonder Do i NEED a 8pin 12V psu to this setup, or will my 12V4pin do the trick?

Thx in advance //Bullen

The Asus page says that it does indeed have a 8 pin vice 4 pin. I would be inclined to say that it needs the 8 pin if that is what is on the board. I could be wrong though.

The E6600 does not need the power from the 8pin, so the 4pin should work. Unless that MB uses the extra power for something I can't think of, you should be fine. Only a handful of high-power CPUs need the 8 pin. Check the manual for the MB (if online) and make sure that it will accept the 4 pin in half the 8 pin socket - the Gigabyte MBs do.

ok, big thanks =) although i found a HIPER converter making a 8pin from 2 molex and the 4pin that acording to hiper should do the trick. Thanks again.
