Looking for some quick advice on the following hardware specs..

- INTEL Pentium D E6700 2.67GHz FSB1066MHz 4MB LGA775 Dual-Core
- Tuniq Tower (CPU Cooler) + Arctic Silver5 Thermal Paste
- ASUS INTEL 975X 3PCI/2PCI-E X16/2PCI-E X1 D.GB LAN (P5W DH DELUXE)
- OCZ 2Gb PC8000 DDR2 EL Dual Channel Platinum XTC Edition (OCZ2P10002GK)
- XFX GF 7950GX2 520MHZ Extreme 1GB PCIE 256BIT DDR3 1.25Ghz - PV-T71U-ZDF9
- Western Digital Raptor X 150GB 10000RPM 16MB Cache SATA Hard Drive
- BenQ DVDR+RW IDE (DW1640-0C3)
- Sony 1.44M floppy drive Beige
- ThermalTake VD1000SWA AGUILA ALUM S-WIN NO PS SILVER
- Antec Phantom 500 -ATX12V 2.01 - AC 115/230 V - 500 Watt (PHANTOM 500)

Now..

My questions to the faithful are:

1) Is this the RIGHT Asus P5W DH Mobo for heavy overclocking (which I plan to do to the rafters!!)? Will this board supply enough voltage to allow the memory to overclock?

2) The mobo only supports ATi Crossfire rather than SLI. I know I can use the 7950GX2 in it but in all honestly I'd prefer a top-end board that supported Nvidia as a speciality but there are NONE as good as this Asus board. Should I still just move forward and acquire this board? This board has everything I ever wanted especially the external SATA port - beyond fantastic for removable HDD SATA enclosures.

3) The ThermalTake case is about perfect in size, ventilation, features, and budget. I only want a mid-tower (full towers are a pain and NOT needed since the components going into this system are gonna be completely streamlined - no servers or multiple HDD arrays apply). Any comments on this case? Seems damn fine..

Anything else from the above list that strikes you? I can get most of the components in Canada for a damn fine price (its truely amazing where you can find deals in such small places).

Thanks Everyone!

Just a quick FYI..

I do not plan to run the 7950GX2s in SLI (wouldn't work anyway as almost all games wouldn't take advantage)..

Also.. have a question..

4) Is 500W PSU enought for the above components? I would think so as my current beast: P4 2.8 @ 3.1, 1gb Dual-Channel PC3500 RAM, Neo FIS2R Mobo, AGP8x 800XT @ 526/526, 2x U160 HDDs (one @ 15k and the other @ 10k), 1 x SATA drive, 2 x DVD DL burners, 7 x 80m Case Fans, 1 x CPU Fan.. and all that consumes no more than 191Watts @ full load (reported by my APC backup). That 191Watts does not also account for the high-speed modem and router plugged into the battery so... I think 500watts is more than enough.

Thanks all! Waiting for some quick comments..

You're paying over $150 more for an increase of 266MHz... I guess if the higher multiplier is worth it to you, go right ahead.

That depends.. I'm seeing much better overclocking with the E6400 then the E6700. The E6400 is going to near 4ghz while the E6700 is only @ 3.6Gghz. Ugh! All on stock cooling. Well.. I'm thinking about it... I need to wait a month or two to make a final decision..

Update - Adding this: OCZ GameXStream Power Supply (SLI Ready) 700W (OCZ700GXSSLI) based on recommendations for being a VERY superior PSU and for being 700W. Also cheaper too. :)

So far.. all looking good for the above... I take it the silence from the masses means a definite "affirmative" from you all. :D

There's even a bigger disparity in price, then. Anyway, I hope you don't pick the E6700.

You don't need anything more than about 400W as long as you stay with a single video card.
