So, looking at newegg @ the new 939's they list the specs as such:

Model: AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Operating Frequency: 2.2GHz
FSB: 2000 MHz System Bus
Cache: L1/64K+64K; L2/512K
Voltage: 1.4V
Socket: Socket 939
Packaging: OEM(Processor Only)

Now, compare that to the 3500+

Model: AMD Athlon 64
Core: Newcastle
Operating Frequency: 2.2GHz
FSB: Integrated into Chip
Cache: L1/64K+64K; L2/ 512KB
Voltage: 1.5V
Process: 0.13Micron
Socket: Socket 939
Multimedia Instruction: MMX, SSE, SSE2, 3DNOW!, 3DNOW!+
Packaging: OEM(Processor Only)

================

Now, unless I'm blind both have the exact same specs, but different ratings, and VERY different prices.. But, notice a difference? Newegg is listing the FSB as 2000 Mhz for the 3200+ but Integrated into Chip for the 3500+..

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the FSB on A64's run the same as the clock speed? Looks like it's nerfed on the 3200+ to be able to make it a slower performing processor...

Can anyone confirm this, and what other limitations have been made to the 3200+ to make it a 3200+ even though it's the same speed as the 3500+?

Newegg has the specs wrong.
The 90nm 3200+ operates at 2GHz, the 3000+ 90nm operates at 1.8GHz.

FSB is entirely based on HTT, not cpu core multiplier. Add to that the A64 sees little benefit from a higher memory bandwidth. The main performance factor is memory timings.

The new 90nm 3200+ should actually outperform the 512k 130nm 3500+ when operating at the same frequency and settings(drop both multi's to 10x and set both HTT to 220)

i'd like to see that as a confirmation though, to make sure.. it just seems odd that they'd bring out the EXACT same spec CPU but in 90nm, and market it as a 3200+.. There has to be a reason it's not labeled a 3500+ with the same specs like that..

Because Newegg does indeed have the specs listed wrong and it's a 2GHz chip and not a 2.2GHz chip? You may have noticed they've since taken down the listing for all the new 90mm s939 chips by the way...
