Does anyone know where I can find listings of what particular network belongs to what part of the world? We're getting slammed by spammers and I'm adding entire subnets to firewall lists however I don't want to squash legitimate email servers. For example I'm not sure if I've squashed servers that Gmail and Hotmail use as I've not seen test messages come in. I know what SMTP gateways they list for mail inbound to them however I don't believe they use the same servers for outbound email.

I'ev been using that site already and am way to busy trying to mitigate spam at the moment to Google it. Thanks for the info tho.

Fair enough. Give me a few minutes I'll try to find something for you (since you have bigger things on your hands).

Thanks for the help. Greatly appreciated. I'll check those links out.

Generally I use Arin to check and see who owns an IP Block. Though ARIN only works for US, but it will point you to the whois for the other IP providers out there.

They can be found at http://www.arin.net.

The top list from the IANA will give you which whois server to look at for allocations at the /8 level.

This one is for IPv6, although it doesn't direct you at a specific whois server it shouldn't be different then the whois listed in the ipv4 segments for that particular RIR. I know it's highly unlikely for any one to find this useful now but thought I would mention it any ways.
