New AGP card for wife's computer

How does this card stack up? Are there any "obvious" better value items or is this card pretty solid? Mostly we play WoW together (my system handles it just fine). I just wanted to get a bit more of the eye candy to play well on her system. Right now she has a GeForce FX 5900 XT.

I wouldn't even consider that card when the x1950pros are starting at only $30 more

Without knowing the specs on your wifes system it's hard to say, but I would strongly recommend looking at this

It's a great card for the money... and GDDR3....

Oh, and sicko........he's looking for an AGP card...

The X1950pro AGP and Geforce 7600GT are real good recommendations for the price. The X1950Pro is obviously faster which costs a bit more. digital_exhaust brings up a good point on the specs on your wifes system. If she has a decent Athlon 64 CPU system or an Intel P4 computer system then, you can pay a little more to go with an X1950Pro AGP. Decent specs like

Athlon System
CPU - Athlon 64 4000+ or higher (only a few socket 939 mobo have AGP)
512MB system RAM minimum (most computers should have 1gig at least by now)
450-Watt power supply or greater, 30 Amps on 12 volt rail recommended (assumes fully loaded system)

Intel System
CPU - Intel P4 2.4 ghz (800mhz FSB) or higher
512MB system RAM minimum (most computers should have 1gig at least by now)
450-Watt power supply or greater, 30 Amps on 12 volt rail recommended (assumes fully loaded system)

If her system is slower than what I mentioned above, than you should get the Geforce 7600GT as this will be faster than the X1650Pro you mentioned and ALOT faster than your current FX 5900. Even a cheap Geforce 6600 GT for under $100 will beat that card. You want the system to be all around balanced. If the Video Card is fast and the CPU doesn't keep up than the CPU will be a bottleneck and you won't be getting the most from the faster more expensive card.

She running on an old northwood CPU, 2.8 ghz. P4 800 Mobo with a gig of RAM

Whereas the 7800gs is a great card, her system would bottleneck... the card I linked above would be a good match, if not a little too much. You could probably get away with a 7600gs, I've seen some in the ~$100 range after rebates......

First, I am envious that you and your wife play computer together. My only time my wife comes near a computer game, if she sneaks up on me while I'm playing F.E.A.R. Otherwise she's just complaining that I'm wasting my time.
But back on topic...
You're deffinately going to be held back by the overall system if you go with a 7800. If you go for the 7600gs AGP http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130076 like that, it doesn't cost a lot, and is certainly strong to handle max eye candy on WoW.

Well.. most likely whatever card you get, it will be faster than the card you currently have now. Even if you decide to get a 7800GS for a real good price and it won't perform at its maximum potential, it will still provide alot faster gameplay than the FX5900 card. There maybe a bottleneck on the cpu but, not that much. 2.8ghz 800bus Norwoods is still good. The hardware requirements for WOW is not high.
