hi, i just bought an alum macbook pro today to replace my macbook....I have 4gb pc2-5300 ram, will it work on the alum macbook pro even though the specs are pc3-8500?

also this is the first time i used the migration assistant and it worked great..i transfered everything over including my 20 gb itunes library and everything went so smooth i was amazed!!

Nope. Previous Macbooks used DDR2 and the new ones use DDR3. You will need to purchase some DDR3 for your new MBP.

Your first stop should be Newegg. I picked up a 4GB upgrade of G.Skill DDR2 for my MBP for only $46 shipped. :)

I would only recommend either buying the 4 gig kit from ramjet or from apple directly (they have some kind of memory buy-back program).
Numerous problems have been reported with the late mbp's and ddr3 from patriot, ocz, corsair, crucial, ocw. Google several forums if you want details.

Consider yourself lucky and hope you're computer doesn't start freezing.

i think i will wait until ddr3 is cheaper...
u guys think $600 for my macbook(rev1) is a good price?

speaking of memory and storage. someone needs to find me a good deal on a 120GB SSD. I'd be in heaven then.... :)
