I'm thinking about building a new budget quad core pc, I haven't been in the loop for awhile so I am not exactly sure about the chipsets and whatnot, but this is what I have come up with. I want Intel and nvidia for sure, but I am open to suggestions on everything else.

ASUS P5QL/EPU LGA 775 Intel P43

OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ600MXSP 600W

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

video card, GTS 250, gtx 260? not sure yet. Suggestions?

Please answer the stickied "ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS FIRST" so that we can help you better.

Oh and ditch the OCZ PSU. It' not that great of a PSU and you can do whole lot better like the Antec EA650 650W PSU. Oh and from a cost to performance standpoint, AMD is the far better choice.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming, web browsing, etc.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
650, yes
3) Where do you live?
WI, USA
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.
CPU, Mobo, ram, psu, 1TB storage drive, vid card
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
case, and a few hard drives
6) Will you be overclocking?
no
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
27" lcd thru hdmi
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
soon
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
Nothing specific
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license?
No, I plan on getting vista through my school it is only $72.

AMD has the better performance for your buck.

But you want a Intel build wait ontill mid-sept, when P55/i5 platform is on the market. 775 Socket is waste of money at this stage.

well at this stage, I don't know. What will be launching beside i5 750 and P55 boards. Est price of those are $200 for i5 and P55 will be $110-$200.

Nvidia right now has nothing to answer to AMD's new line of video cards before Q1 2010.

Well the thing is I plan on giving my current pc to my parents because the one they have is WAAAY old, all they do is outlook express and web surf and it struggles with that. I just want a pc that I can play games on once in awhile, I don't even play the newest games, ie. crysis, and all that, and I don't need max settings balls to the walls. I just need it to last for like 8-9 months before I get a job then I can go nuts, I don't really need this pc to be all uber upgrade-able, future proof I just want something fast for now so that my parents can use my pc.

then get a Pentium e6300 with GTS 250 with the board, picked in your first post.

Go with It_Shiros build. Looks real good and fits your budget. But, since you say you're looking to get a job then I say go even cheaper build. I will adjust It_Shiros build a bit to make things cheaper and below your budget and still deliver performance.

CPU/PSU - AMD Phenom X3 720BE + Antec Truepower 550 both for $178.99

MOBO/RAM - GIGABYTE GA-MA785G-UD3H AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G + Corsair 4GB DDR2 800 both for $133.98

VIDEO CARD - Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 1GB for $94.99 w/free shipping

Note: Radeon 4850 video card will be plenty for 720P res (1366 x 768) gaming.

HDD - WD1001FALS 1TB for $94.99 w/free shipping

Total: $502.95 before shipping & taxes.
