Hey guys,

So I'm considering getting myself a NAS from Synology.

I'm looking for a 4bay NAS but I'm a bit confused on the models and would like your input.
What I will do with the NAS is mostly backup and streaming and potentially have some VM's on it that will go on VMWare.

To start, I will put 2 X 3TB in it and add drives as I need.

I was looking at the DS411+II, but the DS412+ is coming out soon and the price diff is about 30$.

What would you recommand? It doesn't have to be those specific 2 models, I want your opinion/views on the Synology products.

A note is that I'm looking for a NAS that will be able to be supported in the future with the new OS (their new DSM, etc)

Thanks!

I've been running a 411+ for the past 2 years now and the thing has been rock solid and performed quite well. The draw back of course is that you have to phisicaly open it to get at the drives, if you dont plan on doing a bunch of drive swaps its a great device.
