New Raid controller.

Hi, I'm mostly new to the whole raid deal. Most experience I have with it is installing sata drives. But in my new rig I want to have a 4x 400gb raid. I was thinking raid 0+1. I hear that most onboard raid is slow and you're better of getting a card. I found this one, what do you guys think?

i have been hearing that softraid and HW assisted raid is nearly as stable as HW raid nowadays. i also see that card pop up all the time when i am researching. i am still going to stick with descrete HW raid for piece of mind but you should be fine going that route. if you can keep the OS off the array do so. this allows you to use the system if any issues arise. that i feel is a good idea no matter what you run the array off.

I just moved my gaming raid 10 array to rocketraid 2300 few weeks ago, works pretty good and 1x pcie is perfect for 4 disk array. So far it works pretty good, it's a lot better then nvidia raid and slightly better then intel raid.
