Got a new retail chip in today to replace my dud 0536.

Started this thread since there is not a ton of info on this new stepping.

I'm going to take it slow on this chip, so bear with me.

My plan is to take the Vcore as low as I can go @ stock speeds. Dual Prime Small FFT at each step for at least 15min. Waiting to see a failure at a step.

Pics to follow very soon.

Started it out earlier this afternoon, starting with the stock settings.

Run #1 10x200 @ 1.350v (Stock Settings) Passed 15Min
Run #2 10x200 @ 1.325v Passed 17Min
Run #3 10x200 @ 1.300v Passed 22Min
Run #4 10x200 @ 1.275v Passed 19Min
Run #5 10x200 @ 1.250v Passed 27Min
Run #6 10x200 @ 1.225v Passed 19Min
Run #7 10x200 @ 1.200v Passed 1Hr 2Min
Run #8 10x200 @ 1.175v Passed 36Min

Run #8 10x200 @ 1.175v Currently Running

This chip seems to be doing damn well on low Vcores It just keeps coming down and down. Working on Pics now, and hopefully later today will start bumping the clock speeds :)

Looks good. These dual core chips can really tolerate low voltage. Unfortunately I can't bring either of my chips as low as you have.

I am waiting on the same stepping from Dave Grahm. He should hopefully be sending it my chip out today and I'd get it by the weekend to test and let everyone know how they do.

Is yours a CCBWE?

What type of cooling are you running?

Yes sorry, CCBWE 0546SPMW.

XP-90 With Medium-High Speed Panaflow 92mm.

At 26 Min now at 1.2v, going to bump it down to 1.175 and try again :)

I just bought an 0546 XPMW from Dave, anybody heard anything about these? Those voltages are looking nice man.

Daughter needed to be fed before I shut this down, It Dual Primed at 1.200 for 1hr and passed..

Forgive the small desktop pics, On my computer workbench I use a 1024x768 15" LCD, it makes a great testing monitor.

On to 1.175....

Normally, if they undervolt well, does that mean they will overclock well?

well i'd rather have motherboard that undervolts than overvolts...

From my experiance yes. Its indictive of a very strong cpu core or cores as the case may be.

Here we go at 1.175

And yes I think the Expert undervolts a little. Looks like by 0.025 or so.

This screenshot is with 1.175 selected in the bios.

And here it passes

I got mine to 1.0V before instability starting coming in. Lowest stable was 1.6GHz at .80V :D

First of all what stepping is your 170?

I got damn close to matching that,
It will post at .0950, wont make it to windows booting.
.0975 will start booting windows then reboot.
1.00 made it to windows, rebooted the computer after 45-50 min of prime
1.025 seemed to be the lowest this one would go.

If I could hit what yours is hitting I would be one happy person :D

I think I have a good CPU here!

Have it Dual Priming at 240x10 @ 1.35 (Stock) Vcore its at 10Min and still running fine.

I needed 1.475-1.5 to get 2.4 stable on my 0536MPMW

so whats the benefit of running prime at low vcore?
Is this burning in?

what does it do? etc... :)

Mine is an 0530TPMW. Better stepping, I guess. But anyway, undervolting gets boring. Crank the voltage to 1.45V and get that thing up to 2.6 already! :p

I'm done undervolting, final result was 1.025.

It looks like 2.45 is stable at 1.35 , 2.475 errors after around 10 min.

Gonna let 2.45 burn in for a while longer then put the vcore up some.

Yea I know it isnt going to match a 0530, but its looking good.

Ok burnt in long enough :p

Upped Vcore to 1.45 (Bios) Reading 1.42 in Smartguardian and CPU-Z

Trying Dual Small FFT Prime at 2.60Ghz 10x260 Put my ram on a 5/6 divider for the time being, I will dial it in later when I get this CPUs max clock

i got the exact same stepping/week/batch ^^

i got it @ 2.8 1.55 volts(bios) but that was before i returned the 7800GTX i burrowed off friend, waiting for my 512mb GTX :p

Well it failed prime at 10x260 at 1.45. Core 0 failed at 19Min. Core 1 was still going at almost 2 hours.

Going to run stresscpu on both cores at 10x240 @ Stock till tommorow afternoon and try again.

I really think this processor can get 2.80 if I can manage to burn it in properly.

Nice. What cooling?

Keept at it and let us know!

Side note - Are you seriously ordering a 1000W power supply?

Yep.

I am a storage freak. My case can hold 16 HDDs, and I am working on filling it up atm. Plus its one of those powersupplies that can grow with you. I know 5 years down the line I will still be using it.

  The PC Power & Cooling one? The One that costs a mere $450+ :
Why not get two $120 520W Ocz PowerStreams (or similar) instead of ONE 450$$

No doubt. Or just get one nice $120 one and some cheap ass thing to run the hd's & fans. But then again I am a cheap mofo. (being poor will do that to you)

Becauase out of all the things in my computer I refuse to skimp on the case or powersupply.

still waiting to hear what you were able to do with this proc, my 0541 was a POS, under hte vapo never go above 2.7 stable, and finally blew its load. i can only run single channel mem now :< the 0546 is on the way

Well....getting one of those OCZ 600W SLI PSUs or similar is not exactly "skimping out" but w/e. your money :p
