Hi,

Newegg offers 16gb:

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL

$249.99

and 2 x 8 GB

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL
Item #: N82E16820231428

$199

Whats the difference between the two? The 4 GB sticks seem to be identical.

any reason i should go with the more expensive kit for a asus p67 deluxe ?

cheers
Chris

well for the dollar the 16gb kit is better.

Considering they are the exact same memory modules in each kit. Might as well get the 16gb with 4 sticks. and The Sell the other 2 sticks. That way will be overall cheaper than buying the 8gb kit to begin with.

not sure i understand, the 16gb is $50 more expensive than the 2 x 8gb. why ?

Man, use the following to get 15% off

FWIW, it's not 2 x 8GB. It's 4 x 4GB.

RAM fluctuates like fish in restaurant each. In this case, most likely the retailer paid a higher wholesale price for the 8GB kit comparitively than they did the 16GB kit.

well subsumed sloppily:

the 4 x 4 GB $249 is $50 more than the 2 x (2 x 4 GB) 2 x $99= $198, minus the the 15% off coupon.

this was confusing before you added the parentheses 2 x (2 x 4GB). links also help: 4 x 4GB, 2 x 4GB

you are correct they are identical, go with the 2 x (2 x 4GB). this happens pretty frequently on newegg. make sure to check out the individual 4GB DIMMS as well, just in case four of those come out even cheaper.
