No vid in S.T.A.L.K.E.R

Thought I would give the original another run through. The thing is that I start the game with the most recent patch no patch it does not matter I can't see any video on the screen. There is sound and thats about it. After that my monitor will just go to sleep. I updated my drivers and DX version, same thing with the vid, all my other game run alright.

System in sig and I am running XP

try and disable sli ??

also i just had a problem with bf2 and just installing new drivers didn't work, i had to uninstall drivers, reboot in safe mode & run drivercleaner, reboot again, then re-install the drivers.
