During May/June I spent 3.5 weeks in Alaska on a glacier/mountaineering expedition. Here are some pics I took with my humble Canon Powershot A620. The trip was an absolute blast. Enjoy!

Here's the full set of the pics I took; there's about 480 of them in total.

They're in high res as well.

Very nice shots, Thanks for sharing.

Just a side thought, but are there any special concerns or things to remember when shooting in colder climates?

I used lithium AA batteries because they work better and last longer in colder climates than "regular" AA batteries. Other than that, I had no issues. Also,I kept the camera in a plastic bag while it was in my pocket so it wouldn't get wet.

I wasnt sure about the effects of the cold on the camera(having looked at a few of the other shots in the set it didn't look extremely cold) like frosting on the lenses and other "outside of normal opperating temperature" issues.

Never thought of the lithium battery tip, I'Il have to remember that one in the winter.

Thanks for the reply.

It wasn't cold enough that everything froze, no. I think the coldest it got was about 20 degrees F. However, I did an adventure race in VA this past January and the temps were around -9 degrees F. I had lithium batteries in my headlamp, and my friend had regular (both AA) batteries. My headlamp stayed fully bright while his looked like it had 10% power left. After we finished the race and warmed up, his lamp looked like it had full power again.

So I'll always stick with lithium batteries in harsh environments, but I did make a huge effort to keep the camera dry.
