Nvidia 169.09 beta

Now let's go with the majority and see what gains it gives in single slot... I hate to be at work right now.

with these drivers sli is definitely working on my 7600gt's, though i haven't tried with any previous crysis driver since i just installed them... 800x600, medium detail. 35 avg fps...low detail is much too ugly for me, and it only gets me up to a 12:9 res. they're nothing like the 8800s, where post processing effects can mask some jitters if the fps drops into the 20s... you can certainly notice anything under 30fps with 7600's in sli and those instances always occour at precisely the game-ruining point. yuck.

it's really tough to look at after playing it on an 8800. i suppose it does scale though, if i had nothing else and a bleak future, i could technically waddle through with these cards. there's no way i'll be doing that though. :p

i wont be touching anything but wow till my 8800gt arrives. *shudders*

8800gts 320mb core 608, shader 1455, memory 920
Running test_gpu at 1680x1050, all settings on medium except shader, sound, and physics quality on high. No AA, No AF.
No alterations in nvidia control panel. xp 32-bit. Driver sweeper and Driver cleaner was used, so it's a clean installation.
The last two test results from the bench was averaged to give the following:

driver 169.04:
min - 30.87
avg - 39.56
max - 46.71

Driver 169.09:
min - 30.44
avg - 39.52
max - 45.66

I can confirm that the water bug is indeed fixed in this driver.

Here are the notes we recieved with the driver

This driver:
o Adds SLI support for Crysis
o Fixes a water reflection bug in Crysis
o Adds Control Panel anisotropic filtering support for Crysis

With this driver, SLI will deliver 40-50% speedup over a single GPU for Crysis. In addition, Crytek will release a patch in the next week or two that will improve SLI performance further.

yeesh, that almost makes me curious enough to see what my fps would be if i disabled a card.

almost :D

the e4300 c2d based with 7600's... gts320 went in the mail to the step-up dept this morning.

woe is me :D

I ran the GPU and CPU benchs in XP at 1920x1200 all high no aa af.

48 average in GPU, 45 in CPU.

Was stock on the Ultra because of the rivatuner. Good results I'd say. I'll try Vista later.

Strange to hear that a game developer has to issue a patch for SLI to work better. I thought it was up to Nvidia regarding SLI performance.

Mostly it is, but games can do a lot to help as well, there are optimizations in the game code that provides better results with multi-GPUs, this new patch should reportedly improve SLI performance 10-15% more.

I actually got slightly better results with the drivers that came with my EVGA 8800GT. They are from 10/9/2007.

Top one was with the new drivers, bottom one is with the drives that came with my 8800GT. This is @ 1280x1024 everything on high.

does every thing else work ok?
and whats the consensuses on these drivers ?

Ummm, ok. Not sure how believable that is. Those look like SLI results. I get about 20fps lower in XP (28fps avg on gpu test) with my 8800gt overclocked quite a bit. You're getting better results than this guy is at 1280x1024 with an overclocked Ultra:

Vista is no help that's for sure. DX10 vista seems to have a bug in it, and I'm guessing it's these drivers, cause I ran it just fine on the 169.04s. But I'm seeing massive slowdowns in the 64bit and 32 bit versions of the game. It'll be running fine (30fps), then slowdown for no apparent reason to about 12fps. Weird.

^ The min framerate improvement there is most impressive

Agreed. Will [H] be doing:

1. 4GB vs 2GB
2. XP vs Vista (x86 vs x64)
3. Dual vs Quad
4. single vs SLI/xfire

I know it's a lot, but hey...it's [H], right? :D

I'd sure love to actually, we'll see how things go, a lot to do this month, but Crysis is one of the primary games to cover, and I want to be thorough.

Anybody else see that when the 169.09's are installed that you can't remove the taskbar icon from nvidia control panel? I got it removed, but was annoyed i had to go to such lengths, oh well, its a beta driver. lol. Haven't tried really testing them yet.

removing it for aesthetics?

Here are the notes we recieved with the driver

Its interesting that you guys get this information.......and in the consumer release notes there is no mention that SLI is supported in Crysis.......just that this is the "recommended" driver for Crysis......

Its maddening.

TimeDemo Play Ended, (4 Runs Performed)

I tested it the other day and it was 29fps average, thats a 50% increase!!

I am running the 32bit GPU test in 64 bit windows... have to wait for final release for more support =) Friday, wewt!

Seems to be a big deal on 64bit.

Tried on Vista 32 and didnt get any improvement. Actually its a little slower which I assume is due to the reflection fix.

Went from 20 28 35 to 18 26 30 at 1680 all settings high.

My results were wrong, I was at 1280x1024. Long day and I couldn't even tell lol.

But good news is that I did get up to 51 in the GPU at 1280x1024 and when I turned AF to x16 and AA x4, I only lost about 8-9 fps. Those were control panel settings so I'm not sure about how the game handles it.

these seem like vista and sli drivers cause i saw no real improvements in xp but my minimum frames in crysis with vista went up almost 50% so im real happy with them. Happy with my sli 8800gtx's now can finally put some aa on at 1920 x 1200

I find that very hard to believe Max FPS: 76.88 on a 8800 GT people running this game on 8800ulta sli are getting lower fps than that..

I find that very hard to believe Max FPS: 76.88 on a 8800 GT what settings is the game ran at? low

Ran at medium with a few options at high @ 1280x1024 with no AA. My card is buggered and thought some settings were causing it to lock and it wasn't.

Max FPS means there was one spot where the card didn't have to work like if you go up against a wall and you'd see your FPS spike cause its a simple DOF and doesn't have to draw or render much.

8800 GTs are a great card with a good amount of performance in them.
