Odd sound when using headphones with Laptop

Whenever I have the main volume control slider all the way up, while using headphones, I get a high pitched screaching sound. Also, whenever I even have my headphones plugged into the headphone jack, I get a scratching sound. Is there anyway to fix this?

1. try another headset
2. if you unplug your laptop from the AC power, does the sound still have faults? if not, your power source is dirty. you can try another AC plug, or get a short extention cord and pull of the grounding plug part. (3rd prong). then try the test again with your laptop charger plugged into this cord.
3. update the driver.
