ive just come across 3x 40GB 10000rpm scsi Cheatah drives ST336607LW

now is it worth shelling out for a controller for these drives (in terms of speed) or is it a waste and these drive hold no water?

(the drives have never been spun btw)

nevermind... binned em... seriously what am i gonna do with 3x36gb.....

shame though... never been used...

Yeah, it doesn't really seem like it would be worth it. Even at 10,000 RPM I doubt those drives are that great. You'd be better off grabbing an $85 640 GB drive instead of a cheap U320 SCSI controller.

I do love my 3 old 15000 RPM 73 GB Cheetahs though. In RAID 0 they make a really nice 200 GB scratch disk.

They are great drives but they are past thier time. Just toss them on ebay, use the money and get a modern drive.
