I'm kinda torn between these two chips. There's advocates for both chips and they each say that their choice is better. right now, i'm only considering it b/c both chips are similar in price at newegg. Their specs are almost identical but the x2 uses 89w and the opty uses 110w.

Any thoughts?

btw, either one will be put into a DFI LP NF3 Ultra-D s939 with OCZ Plat.EL pc4800 2x512mb.

get a 165.. and with something like a 9500 zalman cooler and you should be hitting higher then most 170 oced.. consider you got some ddr600 ram

Which one would you guys recommend if someone absolutely sucks at overclocking? For some reason, I just suck at it... no matter what I do my current PC just doesn't like it (Shuttle SN25P). I have a A64 3700+ now and I want to make the jump to Dual Core (since I just got back from the desert and have cash to blow :D )

3700... 754 or 939 socket?

At this point, I'd get the 4400 since it has a higher multiplier. Both will probably clock the same.

It's a San Diego socket 939. I'll probably just get the 4400+ even though it does cost a tad bit more.
