well it was working a few hours ago, i was watching a dvd. I had burned a few the day before, nothing out of the ordinary, then when i insert my Halo CD to play a game, it never spins up and it's been making weird noises since, no matter what CD. The disk never spins up instead it does a noise until close explorer.exe.

Here's an audio clip of what it sounds like, http://media.putfile.com/idk-what-it-is

I've already taken the drive out, looked inside for anything loose, reconnected using different cables, nothing. Soooo some suggestions on what it is would be highly appreciated.

ohh forgot, it's a Pioneer A07. I usually burn about 1 or 2 dvds a month.

Hate to say it, but it sounds like the drive is shot. The drive can't calibrate properly anymore.

If there are any diagnostic tools available from Pioneer, I'd run those and if the drive is under warranty/RMA time, its time to replace it. :(

i figured as much, i couldn't find any diagnostic tools and I'm preaty sure my warranty is long gone. I'll just try flashing it, because I've got nothing to loose. If nothing I'll crack it open and watch it do it's thing.

I didn't really like it anyway, loud bugger.
