I recently received my Behringer MS20s, and purchased one of these to hook them up:

I enabled digital I/O in the creative console, but I'm not getting any sound out of the speakers, or any light from the end of the cable going to the speakers. I tried switching to SPDIF in playback devices (Vista), but no luck there either.

Was I mistaken in thinking the flexijack on the X-Fi supported optical out? I really don't want to connect this to the front of the X-Fi drive in the front of my case. It'd mean leaving my door open all the time.

Thanks for the input.

does the front optical work? (if you plug into that, everything goes just fine, right?)

the digital out TRS on the back of the card requires Creative's adapter (or a similar solution) to get optical, you can't plug straight into it (it isn't like Auzen or Asus cards which have an optical output behind the coaxial output), so you have this adapter solution as well?

this is the Creative solution:

the other solution involves a TRS to Stereo RCA and a Coax to TOS adapter, either way its about $10-$15, I'd just go with the Creative solution seeing as its cleaner looking

Yeah, I checked the front optical, and it turns out that's working just fine. It looks like I thought wrong about there being an optical mini-plug in the back.

Unless anybody has anything they want to add (PM me and I'll reopen), I'm going to close this out of sheer embarrassment for the stupidity on my part.
