I need the following specs:

pcix16
ddr pc3200
min 3 pci slots
2 ide connections

Which intel mobo has the best band for the buck right now?

I was running a p4 3.0, but I figured I'd give amd a run. I love it, but I can't stand the lack of hyperthreading.

i can rip a dvd and play a game at the same time. bummer.

You can upgrade to SLI,and it will work with dual core processors when they are available.
You should be good for a long time with board.

I suggest the Asus P5WD2 Premium. With the right ram you can easily reach DDR-1066.

Either the 955X or the Nvidia NF4 Intel Ed. chipset based board would be the "best" right now. Either one should last you a while.
