Overclocking cards in SLI

Using the coolbits registry edit, once you enable SLI in your display options, you no longer have the option to overclock both cards individually. Does the lone manual overclock tab effect both cards? Or do you need to disable SLI, and manually overclock each card individually to the same speeds?
