When he put the 2 fans in his case, How much did the temps drop? Was it worth the time to do the work?

I have a 200v and want to do the same thing.

why not PM him and ask?

Did it, Haven't gotten a response yet.

ummm, I havent gotten any PMs from you or else I wouldve replied... (that is unless I dont like you and then I'd just deny the PM altogether... J/K :D )

anyways...

the temps really didnt do that much for the CPU part but thats not the reason why I did it.

I did it because those systems have very, very bad air circulation if you can even call it that.

all of the components in that case would almost burn my fingers to the touch if I were to be playing any intensive 3D game for like an hour or so. so thats why I decided to do what I did and they helped out alot.

my system temps went from like 60C to like 42C at worse so there was a nice improvement after the mod. but of course everyone's luck is different...

PM was not sent as per my Phat Fingered Phuck Up.

Anyways, I put you on ICQ list but had melt down last Night, So I got up early to get Old Rig up and running. Not a good week I tell Ya. First Hurricane Charley Now Good Ol Florida Lightning.

Anyways I did some research and came up with some Mod Ideas. I am having alot of random crashes.(IE Computer Restarting.) I think mostly to the temps getting up around 54c. So I go get dremel and start chopping.

Do you find the Shuttle is better at cooling than the Ideq. Case being I have been looking at the Shuttles and some of the prices are getting into my budget range.

Thanks for the reply OZZIEGN.

that depends on which line of Shuttle that you're looking at.

for example, Shuttles like my SB75G2 have pretty decent case ventilation due to the pretty good sized side mesh windows on both sides of the case. they at least allow some heat to escape wherever it can unlike the 200T I had.

that thing was like a vacuum sealed Ziploc bag. it just held every bit of the heat inside with no where to escape.

thats the reason why I put those two fans on the side so I could at least get some fresh air in from the outside.

That is the Shuttle I was looking at getting.

After the Flame out I had with the Ideq I seem to lost the CPU, Hard-Drive(Oh the Pain), the ram, and the Motherboard.

I put in my order for the all the parts that I lost.

Plus I was going to use the GFX 5700Ultra for the time being but I already sent to back to E-VGA for the set-up program and Hopefully by the time my replacement parts get here, the 6800 GT gets here at the same time.

Here is the Parts ordered:

The Shuttle

The Processor (Not a big overclocker) Hope the shuttle can handle the temps.

Thats for all the help OZZIEGN. Been a shitty week and it is only Monday.

One more question, Did the fan mod you did on the shuttle help?

yup.

by cutting out the very restrictive stock grill on the back and by putting the fan on the outside (pulling the air from the case), that lowered my CPU temps by like 4C or so.

by the way, I'd avoid all them "E" (Prescott) chips like the plauge.

the performance increase between them and the regular "C" chips is hardly worth noting but the temps between the two are HUGE!

I just returned (2) 2.8E chips because they both idled at like 60C with a good Alpha cooler on them each. thats not to say anything about the 78C load temps either.

"C" chips run much, much cooler and are just about on the same performance level (and cheaper too).
