I'm building a new system, and so far I decided on these items:

Intel Q6600
ATI HD4850

About the motherboard, I'm reading that the new P45 chipset isn't really that better than the previous P35, besides that it supports CrossFire.
Some reviews are saying that the P35 chipset is better for OCing.

What do you suggest?

Lets say you are going to overclock the Q6600 to 3.6, that's only 400FBS. Any quality P45 can do that.
Plus its newer:)

newer, not necessarily more expensive, has 2x 8 lane pcie slots for xfire, rather than 1x 16 and 1x4, has pcie 2.0 slots (i dont remember if p35 does), has ich10/ich10r rather than ich9/ich9r. may also have more native sata ports. maybe.

I'm kinda faced with the same decision as far as P35/P45. I do builds for other people but have not done one for myself yet. Got an E7200 and need MB and ram. The more research I do, the more I've about decided to stick with my original plan and go with an abit IP35 Pro XE even though abit is getting out of the business.I still have not found a board that pleases more users that it, and the abit P45 will probably never see the light of day. I'm not a big time gamer or anything and will not need crossfire. If I do decide on a P45 will probably be an MSI.

p45 100%

can go 1x16 2.0 pcie-- or 8x8 2.0 for xfire... where as the p35 only has 1.0 or 1.1 pcie.. Though the x58s should be out very soon(so the rumor goes) and might be worth waiting for..... But between p35 or p45--- id go p45 just for the faster pcie slot..
