Ok money really isn't the issue, but they are the same price (+/- $10). I understand that the P45 is 45nm or w/e and should OC better. Also the P5Q has 16 phase PWM vs. 4 of the DFI. Finally, I know that the x48 has 16x x2 band for Crossfire. I may end up going Crossfire so that's a nice option, but for the most part I want to OC an E8500 to the max. The DFI seems pretty barebones, but I love the orange color (as I'm from U of Illinois).

P5Q-D is the way to go, yes CF on it is only x8/x8 but it's PCI-e 2.0, which is equal to x16/x16 PCI-e 1.1 (i.e. it's not a bottle neck at all). Also P45 runs cooler and is built on 65nm fab versus 90nm fab for X48, IIRC. And P45 OC's way better.

Thank you for mentioning that, MaStaFLaSH! So many review sites mention that the P45 "only" does Crossfire at x8/x8, as if it were such an oversight. Like you say, The P45's Crossfire support of x8/x8 @ PCIe 2.0 should be more than sufficient.

Once more choices come out in the P45, it'll be hard to recommend a X38/X48 any more, and insane to buy a P35 - not that those are bad boards. Some of the best.

The X38/X48 still has 32 lanes of PCIe 2.0 vs the P45 16 lanes, but I doubt that matters. When it was up against the P35's 16 lanes of PCIe 1.1, it had four times the total bandwidth. Now it only has two times the total bandwidth of the P45, but a PCIe 2.0 x8 slot as MaStaFLaSH points out is somewhat equivalent to a PCIe 1.1 x16 slot in speed, so no worries. The X48 is still the best, but it's lead has been lessened, and for the most part made irrelevant.
