After several generations with ATI I have now come back to nVidia.
http://www.ncix.com has a sale on right now so I just bought 2 of these...

BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC 600MHZ 768MB 1.8GHZ GDDR3 Dual DVI-I HDTV Out HDCP DIRECTX10 Video Card

Not since I replaced my Geforce 4 card with an X800XT-PE have I used an nVidia card.
I always want to enjoy full settings with native resolution in all my games but newer games were taxing my system and my current card and I was growing unhappy with it.
I already know the other gear I want when I finish my upgrades but I was stuck on the video cards.

Yeah for SLI and HardOCP for doing such a great review of these cards that helped me make up my mind.

Rest of system is:

ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus ATX LGA775 DDR2 Nforce 650I + 570 SLI 3PCI-E16 PCI-E1 2PCI SATA2 Motherboard

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad Core Processor LGA775 Kentsfield 2.40GHZ 1066FSB 8MB Retail Box

Corsair XMS2 Dominator TWIN2X2048-6400C4D 2GB 2X1GB PC6400 DDR2-800 CL 4-4-4-12 240PIN Memory Kit

Silverstone Decathlon DA850 850W 20/24 Pin Power Supply ATX / EPS12V Active PFC 120MM Fan

Scythe Ninja Plus REV.B Heatpipe Fanless Heatsink AM2 LGA775 S478 S754 S939 W/ 120MM Fan Adjuster

2 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB SATA2 3GB/S 7200RPM 16MB Cache NCQ Hard Drive

2 x Western Digital Raptor 74GB SATA 10000RPM Hard Drive 5.2MS 16MB NCQ 5 Year MFR Warranty

Wow..you threw down some serious cash for that computer..

Eh, its not that much. Honestly the graphics cards were probably a rather huge chunk of it. :p

The rest of it just seems to be very good, not ridiculously expensive good.

Congrats! That's a hell of a system :)
You sure won't be upgrading anytime soon...

It's going to be a screamer for sure. I just picked up an e6420....awaiting delivery. Can't wait for the q6600 to drop in price again. The price difference currently means being able to get a good 22" ws lcd now.

That’s exactly why I went for the QX6600 and not the QX6700.
$600
vs
$1200
$600 for 260Mhz isn’t worth it in my book. Besides, I have seen this CPU get some nice OCing.
I’ll just bump it up to 2.66Ghz and save $600.

I though about holding off and trying to get an 8800 Ultra and get a Q6700.
It’s almost stupid to waste money for just a pinch more performance when you can save money by getting the next best thing. The rate at which technology is advancing, the next best thing is going to be outdated at the same time the Best of the Best Expensive stuff will be.

Is there such thing as a good 22" lcd right now? I was under the impression that they are all running cheap, second rate panels...
