well my refurb mobo came from newegg (GA-K8NU -SLI).... it was just a board in a static bag.. I noticed a small capacitor missing from near the ATX connector.. but I installed it anyway becasue I could easily fix the capacitor..... well the board works. when I ran the board, it was very very unstable. The chipset is passively cooled so I added a small fan and found a connector that would match the chipset fan connector on the board. after a some soldering I have a perfect chipset fan.
But even then there was some instability. I removed the chipset heatsink and found this nasty yellow thermal interface material. so I scraped it off and replaced it with artic silver 3. This fixes all the problems with stability. so if any of you have this board and are having problems with stability then you know what to do.
