PC cant go online SPYWARE related...HELP

friend has weird problem, she took PC to best buy hardware is ok, no virus and she has talked to AOL tech support to no avail they all tell her this is a spyware problem, im burning her a cd with adware and spybot have any other suggestions?

You might want to include HijackThis as well. Its an excellent program that shows all the programs and services being run every time your computer starts up. Be sure to run it in safe mode.

Download all these programs to a folder on your desktop, install.

Go to Add/Remove Programs - Uninstall any old/used/unwanted apps

Reboot machine, tap F8 key to get boot menu, select "Safe Mode"

Run in the following order.

Step 1) - Crap Cleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com

Step 2) - Hijackthis - http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html

Step 3) - Lavasoft Adaware - http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Step 4 ) - Spybot S&D - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Step 5) - MS Anti-Spyware Beta - http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

That should do it!
