Phil Harrison, after publicly criticizing Sony for not doing more social and online gaming, has resigned from the company. Rumor has it that Harrison will take a position at Atari.

Phil recently expressed his frustration for SCE Japan's resistance to online and social gaming, which, as it turns out, is exactly where Sony needed to be like five years ago. From the sound of things, Phil's departure is a little unceremonious.

How about firing John Smedley for fucking up whatever social games they DO make.

Wow, it feels like just yesterday I was seeing this guy talk about how great Sony's products were, how Motorstorm was worth buying a PS3 for and how great Home would be.

Heh... the POWER STRUGGLE continues... it was such a big deal that SCE would be headed by a non-Japanese and that Kaz was effectively demoted, so it would effectively be a NEW SONY Entertainment Division... NOT.

Looks like the in-Sony politics have favored the Japanese power base yet again... surprise, surprise.

Honestly, the PS3 is a SMASHING success in Japan, just not so much in the US. I'm not surprised that Kaz clawed his way back to the top.

Isn't this the jackass who said "The first 10 million ps3's would sell even without any games at all, thats the kind of brand loyalty our fans have!" More like "Our customers are a bunch of brainwashed dipshits, we're planning on punking them hardcore, lolz!" Good riddence. PR guys are pretty useless really.
