Planning on getting a Conroe system.

Well, it's not for me, it's for a friend who is upgrading soon.

He's already got everything he wants in mind, but he doesn't know what motherboard to get. He is interested in the E6600. I know this has likely been asked to death before, but when is the official date for this processor's release?

If he doesn't get a Conroe processor, he's likely going to buy the PD805 and overclock it as much as possible on air. Which motherboards that are available now will function with both the PD and the Conroe?

as far as boards going any 965 chipset board with work and some of the newer revisions of the 975. Personally I would wait to at least see what the Nforce5 boards are going to do before I bought anything.

there is also gigabyte one, an asus one, a dfi one out or coming out in a week or so.

Dude if he doesnt get the conroe then he should rather go for a 965 board that takes conroe like the asus P5B and the Pentium 930 , its better and you will get a good overclock easily. The chipset makes a good difference too.

If he buys a conroe then wait at least another 2 weeks before he buys a board.
